      Description
      OverviewA cell-permeable tetrahydroquinolinedione[b]cyclobutene based compound that acts as a specific inhibitor of microRNA (miRNA)-221/222-myoD regulatory pathway. Inhibits the translation of myoD in C2C12 cells without changing the expression level of myoD mRNA, but reduces myoD protein expression levels. Shown to selectively inhibit miR-1 (IC50 = 2.5 µM), miR-133a and miR-206 (IC50 = 5 µM) in C2C12 cells. However, it does not affect the levels of non-myogenic miR-9, miR-25, miR-150, miR-25, and miR-214. Shown to inhibit the differentiation of C2C12 cells as indicated by the down-regulation of muscle creatine kinase, myosin heavy chain, and myoGenin levels in these cells.
