OverviewThe Milliplex® MAP Rat Adipocyte Magnetic Bead Panel contains all the components necessary to measure 7 biomarkers in any combination: Adiponectin, IL-1β, IL-6, Leptin, MCP-1, PAI-1 Total, and TNFα. The kit uses a 96-well format, contains a lyophilized standard cocktail, 2 quality controls and can measure up to 38 serum or plasma samples in duplicate.
Background InformationIn the past, the role of white adipose tissue was thought to be limited to energy storage and internal organ protection. The discovery of Leptin secretion from Adipocytes in 1994 led to the recognition that white adipose tissue is involved in a variety of metabolic and physiological processes. Adipocytes secrete a number of hormones called Adipokines with functions that include appetite and energy balance, insulin sensitivity and lipid metabolism. One of these Adipokines, Adiponectin, is involved in the regulation of lipid and glucose metabolism, influencing the body’s response to insulin. Also, its anti-inflammatory effects on the cellular lining of blood vessel walls may help explain the association of high Adiponectin levels with the reduced risk of heart attack.

The MILLIPLEX® MAP Rat Adipocyte Magnetic Bead Panel contains carefully selected biomarkers, enabling researchers to focus on the therapeutic potential of adipokines, adipocytes and cytokine biomarkers simultaneously. Coupled with the Luminex xMAP® platform in a magnetic bead format, you receive the advantage of ideal speed and sensitivity, allowing quantitative detection of multiple analytes simultaneously, which can dramatically improve productivity.

Application NotesThis assay is an overnight assay. Each well requires 25 μL of sample, standard or control. Tissue culture supernatant may require a dilution with an appropriate control medium prior to assay. Tissue/cell extracts should be done in neutral buffers containing reagents and conditions that do not interfere with assay performance. The tissue/cell extract samples should be free of particles such as cells or tissue debris.
