DescriptionPurified mouse monoclonal antibody. Recognizes the αv integrin chain and all αv-containing integrins.
BackgroundThe integrins are a family of more than 23 heterodimeric transmembrane proteins that mediate cell-cell adhesions as well as cell-substratum adhesions and signal transduction processes. Integrins are heterodimers consisting of noncovalently associated α and β subunits. Human CD51 is an integrin alpha v chain which can associate with five different beta chains (β1, β3, β5, β6, and β8) to form various adhesion molecules. CD51 is found in endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, fibroblasts, mast cells, monocytes, osteoclasts, platelets, and melanoma cells.
