EMD Millipore Launches Mobius® FlexReady Solution with Smart Flexware® Assemblies for Chromatography

For clinical development and manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals

  • Novel, single-use flow paths deliver the highest level of operational flexibility and scalability
  • Fully automated, standard hardware platform supports production of multiple products over a range of scales while maximizing flexibility
  • Ready-to-implement processing system features industry-leading separation technologies

August 6, 2012, Billerica, MA — EMD Millipore, the Life Science division of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, today launched the Mobius® FlexReady Solution with Smart Flexware® Assemblies for Chromatography.  As the newest addition to the company’s family of integrated single-use processing solutions, the Mobius® FlexReady Solution with Smart Flexware® Assemblies for Chromatography is a fully-automated system designed to achieve optimum performance during the purification of biopharmaceutical products quickly, reliably and safely.

Mobius® FlexReady Solution with Smart Flexware® Assemblies for ChromatographyThe Mobius® FlexReady Solution with Smart Flexware® Assemblies for Chromatography delivers an unmatched combination of performance, operational flexibility, and scalability.  Unlike traditional single-use processing systems, this modular system is quick and easy to set-up, providing the ability to switch from one scale to another with a minimum number of component changes making it ideal for pilot plants and CMOs that have rapidly changing demands. Comprehensive services, including IQ/OQ, process qualification consultancy and first run support, ensure rapid implementation and optimized performance.

“The biopharmaceutical industry is under intense pressure to remove bottlenecks, reduce risk, and accelerate molecules through the development and clinical manufacturing pipeline,” notes Vin Donovan, Vice President of Biopharm Process Solutions.  “With the Mobius® FlexReady Solution with Smart Flexware® Assemblies for Chromatography, biopharmaceutical manufacturers have an advanced, ready-to-implement system that supports these objectives by increasing flexibility, ease-of-use, and scalability without compromising their purification goals.”

The innovative Smart Flexware® single-use flow path delivers equivalent or better performance to that of traditional stainless steel systems, while maximizing system flexibility. Smart Flexware® assemblies are clearly labeled, making them easy to install while significantly reducing the risk of operator error and challenges typically associated with installing single-use flow paths. Additionally, the flow path significantly reduces dead-legs and moving parts, decreasing the risk of contamination to virtually zero.

EMD Millipore’s Mobius® FlexReady Solutions provide the industry’s only complete single-use process train, offering both upstream and downstream solutions that reduce the time and resources required for commercial protein manufacturing. The company recently launched a state-of-the-art GMP bioproduction facility in Martillac, France, where EMD Millipore experts help drug manufacturers leverage Mobius® single-use technologies to speed a therapeutic molecule’s journey to the clinic.
