      DescriptionInterleukin-10 Protein, Recombinant human
OverviewInterleukin-10 (IL-10) originally known as Cytokine Synthesis Inhibitory Factor (CSIF) is an 18.6 kDa protein that shares over 80% sequence homology with the Epstein-Barr Virus protein BCRFI. The reported biological activities of IL-10, which may be interrelated, include inhibition of macrophage mediated cytokine synthesis, suppression of the delayed-type hyper-sensitivity response, and stimulation of the Th2 cell response which results in elevated antibody production.

      Applications
ApplicationThe recombinant human Interleukin-10 protein originally known as Cytokine Synthesis Inhibitory Factor (CSIF) is an 18.7 kDa protein of 160 amino acid residues that shares over 80% sequence homology with the Epstein-Barr Virus protein BCRFI.
      Key Applications
      • Cell Culture
Application NotesFor most in vitro applications, IL-10 exerts its biological activity in the concentration range of 0.2 to 20.0 ng/mL.

PurityGreater than 98% by SDS-PAGE and FPLC analysi
Specific ActivityHuman IL-10 is fully biologically active as measured by the dose dependent co-stimulation (with mouse IL-4) of MC/9 cells. The ED(50) was found to be <= 2 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity of >= 5 x 10(E5) units/mg.
      Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThe protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that acts as a regulator of a variety of hematopoietic cells. This cytokine stimulates cell proliferation and prevents apoptosis. It functions through the interleukin 9 receptor (IL9R), which activates different signal transducer and activator (STAT) proteins and thus connects this cytokine to various biological processes. The gene encoding this cytokine has been identified as a candidate gene for asthma. Genetic studies on a mouse model of asthma demonstrated that this cytokine is a determining factor in the pathogenesis of bronchial hyperresponsiveness.
