Descriptionβ-Defensin Protein, Recombinant human
OverviewRecombinant Human beta-defensin-2 (BD-2) is an antimicrobial peptide which belongs to the distinct family of beta-defensins. Recent studies have shown that the beta-defensins are present in the human airways and may be relevant to the pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis lung disease. GF100 is a 4.3 kDa protein containing 41 amino acid residues.

Product Information
PresentationThe sterile filtered solution was lyophilized with no additives. For reconstitution, we recommend a quick spin followed by reconstitution in 10 mM Acetic Acid to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers.

Specific ActivityBIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY:

GF100 is fully biologically active as determined by its ability to chemoattract immature dendritic cells using a concentration of 10-100 ng/ml.
Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryDefensins form a family of microbicidal and cytotoxic peptides made by neutrophils. Members of the defensin family are highly similar in protein sequence. This gene encodes defensin, beta 103B, which has broad spectrum antimicrobial activity and may play an important role in innate epithelial defense.
