The quantitative determination of individual human or animal proteins in biological fluids serves as an important tool not only in diagnosing disease, but also in monitoring the course of a disease and the treatment outcome.
In quantitative lateral flow tests, small magnetic microspheres or small fluorescent microspheres such as those offered by Estapor® replace the classical small dyed microspheres.
New instruments have been able to detect the amount of magnetic or fluorescent material which passes through the test area being read. These bench top instruments enable very good analyte quantification, a higher sensitivity in comparison to classical methods and data memorization.
