69962  Straight A's™ mRNA Isolation System plus Separation Stand

The Straight A's™ mRNA Isolation System is designed for rapid isolation of high quality poly(A)⁺ RNA from tissue without using organic extraction (McCormick 1994). The key component of the kit is the Magnetight™ Oligo(dT) Particles, which are encapsulated paramagnetic particles that contain covalently attached oligo(dT)₂₅ to directly bind mRNA. The coated magnetic particles have been treated to minimize non-specific interactions and enable quantitative recovery of intact mRNA. The entire procedure requires less than one hour and is applicable to fresh or frozen tissue. Using the Straight A's System, high quality mRNA can be isolated from tissue, cultured cells, or total RNA, and the procedure can be easily scaled from micro scale to grams of tissue. Because ribonuclease activity is effectively inhibited during tissue lysis, several samples can be processed in parallel without degradation of mRNA.

The Straight A's mRNA Isolation System provides sufficient components to isolate poly(A)⁺ RNA from up to 2 g animal tissue, 8 g plant tissue, or 4 × 10⁸ cultured animal cells. The Introductory System provides components to process 1/10 of these amounts.
