A reversible and substrate competitive 5-iodo analog of tyrphostin AG 555 (Cat. No. 658404) that displays anticancer and antiviral properties. Reported to be more cell-permeable and potent than AG 555 as an inhibitor of protein tyrosine kinase and DNA topoisomerase I (TOPO I). In contrast to Camptothecin, Camptotheca acuminata (Cat. No. 208925), AG 1387 inhibits the DNA relaxation activity of TOPO I by interacting with and preventing its binding to DNA. Also blocks and prevents murine AIDS (MAIDS) development by affecting both viral and/or cellular targets.
