Native, rabbit PA28 activator. Mixture of two homologous subunits (α and β) that stimulates the 20S proteasome. PA28 also contains a protein known as PA28γ of undefined function. Enhances hydrolysis of peptide substrates by the proteasome (peptidase activity) but not its ability to degrade ubiquitinated proteins. Also modulates the antigen processing function of proteasome.
