Full-length, active, recombinant, human p70S6 kinase (p70S6K). p70S6K is a ubiquitously expressed serine/threonine protein kinase that can be activated by serum stimulation and inhibited by wortmannin and rapamycin. p70S6K activity changes during cell cycle whereby its activity is increased ~ 20-fold in cells that have progressed from the G0 to the G1 phase of the cell cycle. Throughout the G1, S, and G2 phases, the expression of p70S6K decreases, which parallels changes in enzymatic activity. Activation of p70S6K requires phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI-3K)-dependent signals.
