A potent, cell-permeable, and irreversible inhibitor of calcium-independent phospholipase A2 (PLA2; IC50 = 60 nM). Exhibits 1000-fold higher selectivity for calcium-independent PLA2 versus calcium-dependent PLA2. Inhibits the release of prostaglandin E2 and suppresses glucose-stimulated release of insulin from pancreatic β cells.
