An end protected tripeptide that acts as a highly selective, potent, and reversible inhibitor of human recombinant cathepsin-L (Ki = 19 nM). Resists proteolysis by cathepsin-L and mimics the mode of autoinhibition of procathepsin-L. Displays ~310- and ~210-fold greater selectivity for cathepsin-L over cathepsin-K (Ki = 5.9 µM, human recomb.) and cathepsin-B (Ki = 4.1 µM, human recomb.), respectively.
