A convenient assay kit useful for measuring the protease activity of caspase-1 and related sequences that recognize the sequence YVAD. Cleavage of the C-terminal peptide bond of this substrate releases p-nitroaniline which absorbs at 405 nm. Assays are performed in a convenient 96-well plate format. Also useful for screening caspase-1 inhibitors.
