A cell-permeable fluorescent thiozolidineacetic acid analog that acts as a BH3 mimetic. Binds to the hydrophobic cleft on the surface of Bcl-xL and specifically prevents BH3 domain-mediated protein-protein interaction between pro-apoptotic and anti-apoptotic members of the Bcl-2 family (Ki = 12.5 µM). Induces apoptosis independent of Bcl-xL pore formation.
