A cell-permeable ellipticine compound that potently and selectively induces apoptosis in human endometrial cancer cells (RL95-2 and Ishikawa) that exhibit elevated Akt activity (effective concentration = 12-24 µM), but not on cells with low Akt activity. Directly affects the activity by Akt, but not the level of cellular phosphorylation of Akt, ERK1/2, JNK1/2, PDK1, PKC isoforms, or serum and glucocorticoid-inducible kinase (SGK).
