      Catalogue NumberIL020
      Brand Family Chemicon®
      Trade Name
      • Chemicon
      DescriptionInterleukin-10 Protein, Recombinant mouse
OverviewInterleukin-10 (IL-10), originally known as Cytokine Synthesis Inhibitory Factor (CSIF) is an 18.7 kDa protein of 160 amino acid residues that shares over 80% sequence homology with the Epstein-Barr Virus protein BCRFI. The reported biological activities of IL-10, which may be inter-related, include inhibition of macrophage mediated cytokine synthesis, suppression of the delayed-type hypersensitivity response, and stimulation of the Th2 cell response which results in elevated antibody production.
      Alternate Names
      • IL-10
      Product Information
PresentationLyophilized from 3mM Tris, pH 8.0 with no additives.
ApplicationThe recombinant mouse Interleukin-10 protein, originally known as Cytokine Synthesis Inhibitory Factor (CSIF) is an 18.7 kDa protein of 160 amino acid residues that shares over 80% sequence homology with the Epstein-Barr Virus protein BCRFI.
      Key Applications
      • Cell Culture
Application NotesFor most in vitro applications, IL-10 exerts its biological activity in the concentration range of 0.2 to 20.0 ng/mL. Responding cells are (partial list): T-cells, macrophages.
      Biological Information
      PurityGreater than 98% by SDS-PAGE.
Specific ActivityChemicon's mouse IL-10 is fully biologically active as measured by the dose dependent co-stimulation (with IL-4) of MC-9 cells. The ED(50) was found to be <=2 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity of 5 x 10(E5) units/mg.
Entrez Gene SummaryThe protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that acts as a regulator of a variety of hematopoietic cells. This cytokine stimulates cell proliferation and prevents apoptosis. It functions through the interleukin 9 receptor (IL9R), which activates different signal transducer and activator (STAT) proteins and thus connects this cytokine to various biological processes. The gene encoding this cytokine has been identified as a candidate gene for asthma. Genetic studies on a mouse model of asthma demonstrated that this cytokine is a determining factor in the pathogenesis of bronchial hyperresponsiveness.
      UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: SwissProt: P15248 # Supports IL-2 independent and IL-4 independent growth of helper T-cells.
