          Immunoprecipitation (see comments)
Application CommentsDoes not cross-react with MDR3 P-glycoprotein. Also reported to work for flow cytometry, immunoblotting, and immunoprecipitation. For immunocytochemistry, frozen or paraffin-embedded material may be used. Permeabilization of the cell membrane is required to expose the epitope recognized by this antibody. Variables associated with assay conditions will dictate the proper working dilutions.

DescriptionPurified mouse monoclonal antibody. Recognizes the ~170 kDa MDR1 isoform of P-glycoprotein.
BackgroundP-glycoprotein is typically expressed in cells with secretory and excretory functions. Its highest expression is in kidney (proximal tubules), liver (bile canaliculi), adrenal gland and intestine, suggesting that the primary role of P-glycoprotein is in the normal secretion of physiological metabolites and ingested chemicals into bile, urine and the lumen of the intestinal tract. Elevated levels of P-glycoprotein have also been reported in multidrugresistant cell lines and in various tumors, sarcomas, and lymphomas.
