DescriptionAnti-Novel hES cell marker EF12 Antibody, clone EF12-E6
Background InformationStem cells are unspecialized cells capable of renewing themselves through cell division and can differentiate into diverse specialized cell types. Embryonic stem cells, as the name suggests, are derived from embryos. Stem cell markers refer to the cell surface receptors that selectively bind signaling molecules. Each cell type has a unique combination of receptors on their surface that makes each cell type distinguishable from other kinds of cells.
Novel hES cell marker EF12 binds a panel of ES and EC cells with a marked reduction in binding to NTERA-2 cells upon retinoic acid-induced differentiation. The epitope bound by this antibody is likely to be a cell surface carbohydrate residue, as treatment of 2102Ep with neuraminidase markedly reduces antibody binding. In cell staining, this antibody shows differential staining between undifferentiated and differentiated regions of cells within the hESc culture.
      Product Information

PresentationPurified mouse monoclonal IgMκ in buffer containing PBS with 0.05% sodium azide.
ApplicationDetect the Novel hES protein using this Anti-Novel hES cell marker EF12, clone EF12-E6 validated for use in ICC & Flow.
      Key Applications
      • Immunocytochemistry
      • Flow Cytometry
Application NotesFlow Cytometry Analysis: A representative lot was used by an independent laboratory to analyze human embryonic stem cells and embryonic carcinoma cells (Wright, A., et al. (2011). Int J Androl. 34(4 Pt 2):e175-e187).
      Biological Information
      ImmunogenShef-1 human embryonic stem cells
ConcentrationPlease refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.
SpecificityThis antibody has high reactivity to both human embryonic stem cells and embryonal carcinoma cells, similar to SSEA3 and TRA-1-60 expression and is a marker for pristine stem cell populations, extinguished more rapidly than SSEA4 and TRA-1-60 (Wright, A., et al. 2011).
