      Background InformationInterleukin 21 receptor (IL-21R) is a type I cytokine receptor for interleukin 21 (IL-21). IL-21R forms a heterodimeric receptor complex with the common gamma-chain receptor subunit also shared by interleukin 2 receptor and interleukin 5 receptor. IL-21 receptor is important for the proliferation and differentiation of T cells, B cells, and natural killer (NK) cells. The signaling cascade of IL-21R results in the activation of multiple downstream signaling molecules, including JAK1, JAK3, STAT1, and STAT3.
