      DescriptionAnti-ID-1 Antibody, clone 7D4.2
Background InformationId-1 is an inhibitor of differentiation protein, which, along with Id2, Id3 and Id4, plays a key role in the regulation of lineage commitment, cell fate decisions and in the timing of differentiation during neurogenesis, lymphopoiesis and neovascularisation (angiogenesis). Id proteins, induced by the bone morphogenic protein-SMAD pathway, have also been shown to collaborate with LIF to ensure that embryonic stem cells opt for self-renewal.

      Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThe protein encoded by this gene is a helix-loop-helix (HLH) protein that can form heterodimers with members of the basic HLH family of transcription factors. The encoded protein has no DNA binding activity and therefore can inhibit the DNA binding and transcriptional activation ability of basic HLH proteins with which it interacts. This protein may play a role in cell growth, senescence, and differentiation. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

      UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: SwissProt: P41134 # ID (inhibitor of DNA binding) HLH proteins lack a basic DNA-binding domain but are able to form heterodimers with other HLH proteins, thereby inhibiting DNA binding.
SIZE: 155 amino acids; 16133 Da
SUBUNIT: Heterodimer with other HLH proteins. Interacts with COPS5 (By similarity).
DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Expression correlates with proliferation in some types of cells.
SIMILARITY: SwissProt: P41134 ## Contains 1 basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) domain.
