      DescriptionAnti-BBIP10 Antibody
      Alternate Names
      • BBSome-interacting protein 1
      • BBSome-interacting protein of 10 kDa
Background InformationBBIP10 is a BBSome that is a highly conserved Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) protein. BBS is characterized by a dysfunction in the cilium that affects the development and homeostasis of a number of organ systems. BBIP10 is found in the primary cilium of ciliated organisms and, unlike other BBSome proteins, BBIP10 is necessary for microtubule polymerization and acetylation. BBIP10 seems to be important for the formation and maintenance of the BBSome complex and have a second function in the cytoplasm to stabilize microtubules.
