          Immunoblotting (Western Blotting)
          Immunoprecipitation
          Application NotesFlow Cytometry (see comments)
Immunoblotting (0.5-2 µg/ml, see application references)
Immunoprecipitation (4 µg/0.5 mg total protein; see comments and see application references)
Application CommentsThis antibody will immunoprecipitate active Akt from cell lysates. Useful for immunoprecipitation of Akt prior to activity assay using the K-LISA™ Akt Activity Kit (Cat. No. CBA019). This antibody has also been reported to work for flow cytometry applications. Antibody should be titrated for optimal results in individual systems.

DescriptionProtein G purified mouse monoclonal antibody. Recognizes ~50-60 kDa Akt1 and Akt2 proteins. Supplied with control lysate derived from unstimulated A431 cells.
BackgroundAkt (Accession No. NM_005163) is primarily a cytosolic enzyme that acts as a downstream effector of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI-3K) activation. Akt has been shown to be activated by a variety of stimuli, including hematopoetic cytokines, various chemokines, heat shock, hypoxia, hyperosmolarity, integrins, nerve growth factor (NGF), platelet- derived growth factor (PDGF), and T cell receptor signaling. Suggested to play a role in regulating the balance between cellular mitogenesis and apoptosis. Akt has been shown to be constitutively active in some human cancers.
