          Description
          OverviewA cell-permeable AMPK activator (20 mg/kg/d i.p. for 21d) that has been shown to attenuate fasting blood glucose, improve glucose disposal, and correct dyslipidemia in genetic (leptin deficient, ob/ob) and dietary (high-fat-fed) mouse models of insulin resistance over controls. IP injections for 14 days increases skeletal muscle glucose uptake by > ~30% and ~70% compared to vehicle-treated lean and obese mice, respectively. Treatment with 100 µM of DHPO results in a small but significant AMPK (Thr172) phosphorylation, and a concentration dependent increase in glucose uptake with a 2-fold increase over controls, in cultured myotubes. Furthermore, 20 nM Compound C demonstrates a 58% and 41% inhibition of DHPO-stimulated glucose up-take at concentrations of 50 µM and 100 µM DHPO, respectively.
