Description Alzheimer's Disease II - Amyloidosis Investigator Antibody Mini-Pack
Background Information Pathway Investigator Antibody MiniPack:
Each Pathway Explorer Antibody Minipack contains three related antibodies as part of a signaling cascade or a combination of total and phosphorylated forms of key signaling targets. Each of the three antibodies are 30% the original pack size. Full size versions of each of the Pathway Explorer antibodies are available for sale individually under the same catalog number with the removal of “SP” off of each one (e.g. 05-591SP can be ordered as 05-591).

Alzheimer Precursor Protein A4, clone 22C11:
Deposits of amyloid protein in senile plaques near nerve processes are found in the brains of aged humand and cases of Alzheimer's Disease. The principle component of this extracellular amyloid is beta/A4, a 4 kDa peptide derived from a larger amyloid precursor protein (APP), which is widely expressed in the brain and body. The creation, transport and function of these proteins are currently under investigation.

      14-3-3-e C-Terminus:
Mammals express seven distinct 14-3-3 isoforms (gamma, epsilon, beta, zeta, sigma, theta, tau) that form multiple homo- and hetero- dimmers, thus rendering 14-3-3 as a key multifunctional regulatory molecule. 14-3-3 isomers have been implicated in several neurological disorders: for example isoforms gamma, epsilon and beta are expressed in the cerebrospinal fluid of Creutzfeldt-Jakob patients, but not patients suffering from other neurological conditions such as Alzheimer's.

The 14-3-3 epsilon, C-terminal antibody is one of a panel of antibodies that were generated against 14-3-3 isoforms and have demonstrated their potential for use as an ELISA-based diagnostic tool. These antibodies will allow the research to investigate the role of this protein in key cellular processes and neurological disorders such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease.

      UniProt Number
UniProt Summary FUNCTION: SwissProt: P62258 # Adapter protein implicated in the regulation of a large spectrum of both general and specialized signaling pathway. Binds to a large number of partners, usually by recognition of a phosphoserine or phosphothreonine motif. Binding generally results in the modulation of the activity of the binding partner.
SIZE: 255 amino acids; 29174 Da
SUBUNIT: Homodimer. Interacts with NDEL1 (By similarity). Interacts with HCV core protein.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm (By similarity). Melanosome. Note=Identified by mass spectrometry in melanosome fractions from stage I to stage IV.
SIMILARITY: SwissProt: P62258 ## Belongs to the 14-3-3 family.
